Oxygen Ozone Therapy (OOT) has been used in countries throughout the world for many years.  Ozone consists of three oxygen atoms bonded together to create a negatively charged particle that exists in nature as a colorless gas. Ozone starting showing up in dentistry in the 1930s due to its strong antibacterial and wound healing properties. Used in the correct way in the appropriate dosage, it provides many benefits for dental patients.

Therapeutic methods of administration of intraoral Oxygen-Ozone (OO) include:  injection of gas, irrigation with ozonated water, insufflation of periodontal pockets with gas, and topical application of ozonated oil.​
